All about wikis

Hi Guys,
This video explains how wikis work. After viewing can you suggest ways that you can use wikis in your classroom?

  1. one way a wiki can be used in the classroom is by posting information about a lesson that was taught so students can post what they learnt. If a student gives the wrong information, then another student or the teacher can make corrections to the information posted by editing it.

  2. another way it can be used is by allowing a student who is absent from school (for a valid reason) to post notes and their understanding on what lessons taught during classes to encourage peer tutoring.

  3. I agree with your responses. Indeed wikis encourage collaboration among teacher and students in preparing and organising information.

  4. I believe that a wiki can be used by a group of students working on a project...For instance our multimedia kit..each group member can put up his/her idea and if another member wants to edit or add to a point he/she can do so..in the end the group can compile all the ideas put forward by the different members to design a "magnificient" MULTIMEDIA KIT...

  6. The use of the wiki in the classroom will change the role of the teacher, because the students will now become teachers and students; therefore changing the type of lerning which will take place in the classroom. everyone will learn and construct their own knowledge.

  7. I agree with all the other people who posted the use of wiki in the classroom. It can also foster discovery learning and persons who are weak can move forward with the help of a MORE KNOWN OTHER (MKO)scaffolding. Lastly it is freeeeeeeeeeee...
